InstallShield Express Windows Installer Sample
For Windows 95, 98, Me, 2000 et al

InstallShield Express Windows Installer setups are state-of-the-art and use Microsoft Windows Installer technology for reliable installs. This relatively new Microsoft Windows Installer method of running a setup does not run on the old Windows 3.1 and Windows NT 3.51 operating systems.

In the sample below, a 3,500 word document is installed fully automatically with these features:

* A custom graphic shown in the first title Window of the installer;
* Password protection to permit use by only users with the password;
* A Windows program group folder is installed, accessible from the Start menu;
* The document is installed with a Windows icon that when clicked loads the document;
* License and Readme icons also installed to provide instructions and copyright notices.
* An optional uninstall feature to let the user completely remove the content if desired.

Many of the display Windows shown below are optional. Install path and other user-selectable options may be fixed in advance in your installer. Adobe Reader (not included in this sample installer) could also be included to ensure that the end user has the reader for the installed PDF-format document.

Documents can be in any PC file format that you desire, provided that the recipient can be anticipated to have a program on their system that can read the format. This is why Adobe Corporation's Adobe Reader and the PDF format associated with it are now the common choice--Adobe Reader is freely distributable and the PDF format is today a universal standard for shared documents.

SPECIAL GRAPHICAL CUSTOMIZATIONS AVAILABLE
In the sample below, notice the custom-designed top border to the various Windows that underlies a text-like background visually in-keeping with the document-centric purpose of the installer. The keyboard graphic background shown underlying some of the Windows is also a customization option that can make your installation unique--even displaying your own corporate logo or graphics that you supply in the required dimensions and image settings.
